New Technique Combining Expansion Microscopy and Lattice Light-Sheet Microscopy

A recent article in optics.org highlights the combination of expansion microscopy with lattice light-sheet microscopy. This new technique allows researchers to visualise spatial relationships between proteins across millimetre-scale dimensions. It counteracts many of the limitations of optical microscopy, electron microscopy, and super-resolution microscopy and is making incredible inroads into understanding the complexity of the brain.

The research is a joint project between the two research groups: Ed Boyden at MIT, and Eric Betzig at the University of California, Berkeley and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Janelia Research Campus.

The findings have been published in Science. To read the full article by optics.org, please click here.
