Optical element insulating glass has a special ability to absorb, transmit, and reflect light and heat. The use of this glass in exterior windows and glass curtain walls for buildings can achieve significant energy savings. Commonly used thermal insulation glass includes heat-absorbing glass, coated glass, and insulating glass. According to different characteristics of the additives, these types of glass comprise two categories: heat-reflective glass and low-emissivity glass. CRYSTECH Inc. is a global supplier of Alexandrite, KTP, GTR-KTP, RTP and KDP Q-Switch, Nd:YAG and CTH:YAG crystals, thin film polarizers, laser optics and more. The company has become one of the leading manufacturers of KTP crystal and laser components in the world. | |
Here is an amazing image of Messier 106 (NGC 4258), found in the constellation Canes Venatici. The photo was taken with over 10 hours of exposure in California, using Chroma Technology’s 27102 H-alpha, Luminance, Red, Green, and Blue (HaLRGB) astronomy filter set. Although you may only clean your eyeglasses by simply wiping them with a cloth, that is not a suitable method to clean delicate, customized optical components. Optical manufacturers generally use ultrasonic cleaning, but many users do not have such sophisticated equipment. However, proper handling and cleaning methods can improve the performance and longevity of your components, such as:

Quantum Relays are an exciting technology, enabling long-haul quantum communication without the need for trusted-node intermediaries. These relays also expand the algorithmic repertoire available for distributed quantum computing. In this webinar, Dr. Martin Felle of ID Quantique explores some of the schemes for building a quantum relay, including the necessary components and sub-systems. In addition, he discusses some of the technical challenges you will encounter along the way. |
❂Security
To counter the quantum threat, which will break current asymmetric cryptography, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has launched a process to select and standardize new resilient algorithms. The open selection process started in 2017, with a first round of 69 proposed algorithms, which were presented, analyzed, and attacked by the crypto community. There are seven finalists in the final stage of the third round with three algorithms for signature and four for key exchange. The final selection is expected in April. Recently, a new classical attack on one of these finalists was announced on the Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) forum and published in an article. The validity of this attack was quickly acknowledged and will probably lead to the abandonment of this algorithm. This is why ID Quantique advocates adding another layer of safety by using quantum technologies, such as quantum random number generation (QRNG) and quantum key distribution (QKD). |
