Herzan Case Study: Fertility Associates
Application: In-Vitro Fertilization – Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection
Instrument: Nikon Diaphot 300 with Narishige Micro-Manipulators
Isolation System: Herzan TS-150 Desktop Active Vibration Control System
Details
Bert Stewart of Fertility Associates (a company in New Zealand) needed an isolation system to reduce the environmental vibrations affecting their intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) process. They chose the TS System based on the recommendation of a colleague. The TS-150 immediately eliminated the troublesome vibrations affecting his work.
Months later, construction was being performed on the building where the laboratory was housed. The construction required a jackhammer to be used on the ground floor outside of the lab. While the jackhammer was running, the end user was able to take video of the tip of the microinjector to characterize the vibrations it was experiencing. The resulting video is a dramatic display of the TS system’s ability to eliminate even the most troublesome vibrations.
Results
A video compares vibration levels without vibration isolation, with passive vibration isolation (utilizing the TS-150 without active isolation enabled), and active vibration isolation (utilizing the TS-150 with active isolation enabled).
