Holographic Two-Photon Optogenetic Photostimulation of Neurons
Holographic two-photon (2P) optogenetic photostimulation is currently the only method capable of stimulating pre-selected distributed sets of neurons with a single-cell resolution. Researchers from New York University trained mice to detect cell-targeted stimulation. They used a PHAROS laser from Light Conversion due to a much stronger 2P excitation than a standard Ti:Sapphire oscillator.
The paper describing their work is entitled “Precise Holographic Manipulation of Olfactory Circuits Reveals Coding Features Determining Perceptual Detection” To read the paper, click here.
