“Homemade” THz Cyclotron Resonance Spectrometer
In a video, Dr. Darren Graham explains the development of the “homemade” terahertz (THz) cyclotron resonance spectrometer at the Photon Science Institute, University of Manchester. Cyclotron resonance has been about since the 1960’s and the technique has led to the development of new semiconductor materials, producing light-emitting diodes and transistors. In order to perform the techniques, you need large scale facilities that have restricted time available. Dr. Darren Graham and his research group have developed a tabletop instrument that allows you to perform these experiments there and then without the need to schedule time in large scale facilities.
This device includes two synchronized taccor lasers and a TL-1000-ASOPS produced by Laser Quantum.
