Since its inception, the technology transfer office of the Université de Genève, Unitec, has demonstrated an instrumental role in transferring technologies from the laboratory towards the marketplace by working with start-up companies as well as existing companies in Switzerland, Europe and the rest of the world. On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Unitec has awarded ID Quantique (IDQ) an Impact Award as the Most Impactful Spin-off. ID Quantique was recognized for its contributions in the fields of quantum key distribution (QKD) systems, quantum safe network encryption, single photon counters, and quantum random number generators.
IDQ is a spin-off of the group of Applied Physics of the Université de Genève (UNIGE). IDQ specializes in quantum sensing and quantum-safe security. Created in 2001 it is the world leader in quantum-safe crypto solutions.
