Killing Cancer Cells Using Gold Nanoparticles
Researchers at the University of Liverpool published a paper entitled, “Photodynamic and Photothermal Human Cancer Cell Killing Using Gold Nanoparticles.”
The experimental setup for this work included an opus 532 laser from Laser Quantum. This laser is a diode-pumped, solid-state, continuous wave laser at 532 nm with a 1/e2 beam diameter of 1.85 mm. For most experiments, the sample was irradiated at 1000 mW (unless stated otherwise). For some experiments the beam was expanded to 8 mm diameter, as stated explicitly in the results section.
The opus 532 is a premium 532 nm green laser product with excellent beam parameters, sophisticated software and control interface. Each opus includes Laser Quantum’s RemoteApp technology that allows the user a full, remote computer interface. With near-unity M-squared and excellent power stability in a rugged, patented design, the opus is an exceptional laser designed for demanding applications.
