Messier 106 Revealed
Tony Hallas provides another amazing image. This one shows Messier 106 (NGC 4258), which is found in the constellation Canes Venatici. M106 is located about 22 to 25 million light-years away from Earth.
The photo was taken with over 10 hours of exposure in California, using Chroma Technology’s 27102 H-alpha, Luminance, Red, Green, and Blue (HaLRGB) astronomy filter set.
Chroma Technology manufactures the highest quality astronomy filters with durable, sputtered hard coatings using single substrates of the best glass, eliminating the need for laminations. All primary filter coatings are applied on the front surface and anti-reflection coatings on the rear surface to prevent ghosting and to maximize transmission.
