Philtec Produces Probes for High Magnetic Fields
Many of Philtec’s customers need casings for fiber optic probes and cables that are exposed to high magnetic fields.
Philtec’s answer is to jacket the cables in non-metallic materials and also to construct the sensor tips from non-metallic or non-magnetic materials. These sensors can therefore be configured to perform measurements in environments where very high magnetic fields are present. Customer applications have been working successfully to magnetic fields as high as several Tesla.
To see the types of material available for cable jackets and tips, as well as the features and operating temperatures of these different materials, read Philtec’s Application Note 70, entitled “Probes for High Magnetic Fields.”
