Simplifying Polarization Control for SNSPDs
Polarization drift in the last fiber stretch can quietly limit detection efficiency, especially in quantum networks, optical ground stations, and quantum data centers.
ID Quantique (IDQ) has published a new application note: “Simplifying polarization control for SNSPDs operating in Quantum Data Centers using PMF coupling”
In this application note, IDQ (now part of IonQ) shows how PMF-coupled SNSPDs maintain the correct polarization all the way to the detector, eliminating the need for last-meter polarization control without compromising performance.
Benefits include:
- Simpler system integration
- Stable peak efficiency over time
- Ideal for long-term, hands-off operation
